WHY IS IN-SEASON TRAINING IMPORTANT?
After just two weeks off the weights “detraining” begins.
Detraining is when the physical adaptations of exercise begin to reverse as a result of doing less of those specific exercises.
The more strength you’ve gained the more you have to lose.
You don’t want to peak during tryouts. Keep your strength gains for the most important events late in your season.
What Does an in-season Strength Session Look Like?
THESE WORKOUTS ARE GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF THE SAME QUALITIES AS OUR OFF-SEASON TRAINING BUT WITH LESS INTENSITY & VOLUME AS WELL AS AN EYE ON RECOVERY
Less emphasis on coming in on exact start times of sessions.
Athletes will begin with foam rolling to aid recovery.
Each session includes trunk/core strength exercises. These exercise improve stability which promotes stronger overall athletes who can safely transfer power.
Speed, agility, quickness and jump/plyometrics training is still offered but level of participation will depend on the schedule, recovery state and time during the sports season.
The athletes have specialized strength & mobility workouts to follow. These are individualized plans designed to promote safety on and off the field with emphasis on maintaining strength.
Each session ends with stretching/foam rolling.
Beware! Several newer gyms have been deceitfully using “Complete Athlete” in the naming of their programs. Rest assured we are the original and only CA. Know who is training your children.
